Minutes of YPAC Meeting dated 12th October, 2010 at 17.00 at Plymouth Arts Centre (PAC)



Present:

Photo Booth

The idea of a travelling Photo

Booth was introduced. This was to

be taken around the city or situated

in PAC and resident’s photographs

would be taken with an SLR camera.

Issues arising with regards to consent

of participants were raised.


Action

Decide if the Photo Booth will be in situ at PAC or travelling


Mikey and Ryan to start enquiries into materials for booth and possibly start building.


Discuss legality issues regarding consent

Exhibition

It was discussed that the aforementioned photographs should be exhibited within PAC. This would take place within Batter Street. Dates were discussed and the issue of how to display and curate the photographs was bought up.




Decide exhibition date.

Decide on display options.




Promotion

A variety of promotional ideas were discussed, amongst these was the idea that of a street party or laundrette party could occur. In addition to this it was suggested that a Flikr account and a blog should be contributed to. The Young PAC facebook group should also be updated to include information about the new project.

It was determined that the Plymouth Herald should also be contacted to report on the forthcoming events.

Lessons Scheduled for July all around the lucky city of Plymouth

Lessons scheduled for July:

10th 12pm- 4pm Utility Belt Making

A chance for teachers and new students to meet! Meet at Plymouth Arts Centre . Packed lunch on Plymouth Hoe and then to a secret location to make a travelling student’s utility belt, with pockets for all your travel learning needs!

11th 2pm- 5pm Cartography/Photography

The first lesson will be all about our favourite places in Plymouth – we’ll be talking about them, taking pictures and drawing our own maps

13th 6pm- 8pm Paper Manipulation

This is a lesson in physics, aerodynamics and nautical studies… that’s right! We’re making giant paper-aeroplanes and origami boats on the hoe!

17th 12pm- 3pm Poetry/Graphic novels/Bio-engineering

This Saturday session will include three lessons all linked by a common theme: one of Plymouth’s most well known myths. We will be expressing ourselves using words, drawn images and bio-mechanically engineered monsters

18th 12pm- 4pm Geo-caching

Our final lesson before the end of term walk is all about geo-caching; a modern, hi-tech version of treasure hunting. Experience this exciting phenomena first hand!

24th 10am- 5pm–Talks on Walks

An epic journey around Plymouth including talks by a series of different artists and residents, geo-caching and much more. Prepare to learn things you never knew, not only about the city of Plymouth, but also about yourself on this voyage of discovery.

All lessons will be documented and will form the basis of a book, a copy of which will be given to each of our students upon graduation.
